I'm sure that's how Harper would say it if she could.
I came home this evening to what seemed like a grumpy/hungry baby that was ready to eat. This happens occasionally, so I didn't think much of it. Then she started to really cry and sounded a bit muffled.
After eating and a diaper change she was pretty much inconsolable. At times it seemed she just needed a momma snuggle, other times even that wasn't enough. I thought I had seen a Harper cold before, but apparently I was wrong. It took me nearly an hour to get her to settle down and sleep.
I feel so bad. She seems so uncomfortable.
Oh shoot. The little lady just woke up. bummer.

conversation

This evening, Shiloh and Harper were spending some quality time together. This quality time quickly turned into their first "conversation."
Harper has recently started blowing raspberries.
The conversation between the two consisted of a long back-and-forth exchange of raspberries. Shiloh would blow one, Harper would wait a few moments and blow one back. Shiloh would laugh then blow her another. The exchange lasted several minutes and made Shi's evening.

Efficiency
I had a meeting I needed to get to at 1:00, but hadn't had a chance to eat yet, so at 12:45 I got my lunch ready and ate it as quickly as possible. As I was rushing to get to my meeting I grabbed my cell phone, notebook, key card and the garbage left over from lunch. I swung into the kitchen and dropped the trash into the nearest garbage can and went on my way.
It wasn't until the end of the day that I realized I didn't know where my phone went. I looked everywhere in the office that I could think of, but ended up heading home without it.
As I was riding the blue line it occurred to me - I must have dumped my phone was in the garbage with my lunch left-overs. I panicked as I realized that the garbage would be emptied in a matter of hours, let alone before I got back to the office.
I ran home and used Shi's phone to call one of my colleagues... on the off chance that she was still in the office. In a brush with luck, she was.
I told her what the situation was and she offered to go to the kitchen, call the phone and listen in the garbage to see if it was there. In another brush with luck, it was.
Sometimes efficiency is a good thing. Other times it makes your co-worker dig in the garbage for your stuff.
Toys
Grub
Right before she turned 3 months old, Harper started showing signs of being ready for solid food. It was a little earlier thank I had planned to try spoon-feeding, but we gave it a shot. I was amazed by how well she did!
She would get so excited when she saw the spoon coming her way. Check out how big she's opening that mouth!
Since then we've upgraded to all sorts of pureed foods. Her favorites seem to be sweet potato and carrots. Now she squeals when she sees me pull out a new jar of food and then wiggles all over as I'm trying to feed her. She loves to grab my hand and guide the spoon into her mouth.
She's growing so fast, some days it is hard to believe how small she was just a few months ago. I can't imagine what the next few months will bring!

Hot
Think it's time for a new air conditioner?
Please note: inside temp is 82 in spite of the 68 cool setting -- and this was at 9 p.m. with the windows open letting in a bit of cool(er) night air. We're running out of ideas for meals that don't involve using the oven/stove... any suggestions would definitely be welcomed!
